hurt her the way she hurt me. But later, I began to think deeply. I studied the reason
behind the marriage and realized that through it, she could experience real life change.

“Ismail can give her the religious knowledge she did not receive from me. Knowledge can
make her disciplined, even if only gradually, because preparation should have started
earlier.

“The reason I said you should not go to her, and I also told them not to look for me, is
because if she is not with us, she will receive better training. Ismail will not fear us
or feel shy of us when she deserves correction.

“From what I have observed about him, he is not weak. He will not fear any of her threats.
Also, we will not support them with money because I do not want to weaken his heart and
make him stop looking for his own means, always waiting for us.

for studies.

Mahmud laughed and asked:

sickness, but Abbas did not care. Her pregnancy came with severe vomiting.

When he saw that she was no longer useful to him, he began spending most of his time

When things became worse, she called her mother and complained.

Na’ima’s Mother Visits Abbas’s Mother

veil and said they should go to Abbas’s mother so she would know what was happening and

They drove to the minister’s house. After the guards called inside and confirmed who they
were, they were allowed in.

They waited in the sitting room for more than fifteen minutes before servants brought
drinks. Then Hajiya Bilkisu came down with pride and spiritual confidence, looking at them
coldly.

Hajiya Nana gathered courage and said:

“Hajiya, we came to complain to you about Abbas.”

At the time, Alhaji was sitting in the main sitting room with Sauda and the children.
When he heard the news, they became happy as if she had already given birth.

He asked to speak with Na’ima, but her mother said she was sleeping.

Sauda congratulated her and prayed for Na’ima’s recovery.

He went to her, sat beside the mattress, and called softly:

“Khadija. Can you hear me?”

Startled, she looked at him.

He asked:

“Why are you crying?”

Through sobs, she said:

“Nothing.”

He said:

“Khadija, look at me.”

She raised her head and looked into his large eyes.
